Motion Design: Mistborn Title Sequence
2019
When learning how to use Adobe AfterEffects for motion design, I was tasked to create a title sequence for a book’s movie adaptation. I chose Brandon Sanderson’s novel Mistborn. The book takes place in a fantasy, apocalyptic world that seemed hopeless and cruising to the protagonist. I created this feeling by adapting concept art from the video game Thief and choosing cinematic music. I learned how to create a parallax effect, and added in extra details that helped to tie in themes from the book. The final version of the video has over 6,000 views on Youtube and has even been complimented by Brandon Sanderson himself.
